A Warm Welcome to Solely Holistic

Joanna Knowles

Where it all began…
At the age of 30, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I experienced cognitive difficulties, became sensitive to light and sounds, experienced digestive disturbances and other characteristic symptoms.
To top it off, I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which meant I also had chronic muscle, nerve and joint pain!

Life was a struggle...

My quality of life was extremely poor and one day I decided enough is enough of all the pharmaceutical medication making me feel even more tired and bloated. I wanted to try natural therapies to see if anything would work. Did you know that turmeric, the spice that gives curry it's signature yellow hue and unique flavour, can help with reducing inflammation and ease swelling. Perfect for fibromyalgia!!

Having always wanted to help people, I decided to embark on retraining as a Complementary Therapist. As well as studying pain management, reiki and health coaching. I wanted to provide comfort by touch but knew massage would be too demanding on my own body. So I studied reflexology with The Beauty Guild.

I am a full member of The Guild of Holistic Therapists and International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.  I have been fortunate to work with 'Integrated Cancer Therapies' providing foot massages and reflexology. I also volunteered at 'Macmillan Cancer Support' as a Complementary Therapist providing people affected by cancer, family members and oncology nurses/consultants reiki sessions or reflexology.

What I love most about reflexology and all complementary therapies is that they allow the body to begin its own healing process and get to the route of the issues or symptoms that may be presenting. Our body does most of its restoring when we are asleep and our brains are switched off, so very often to heal, the starting point is allowing the body, mind and soul to completely relax.

For me, it's not just about giving you a treatment but about really understanding your needs. I want all my clients to feel totally at ease and use the session as your 'me' time which can begin the healing process.

"Jo is amazing. Her ability to know exactly what to do and how really helps my mum to feel understood and therefore at ease. Jo is truly kind with her time and observations and offers lots of good hints and tips to help with my mums treatments.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jo not only for her treatments and skills but her kind and patient nature are priceless"
