AROMA-REFLEXOLOGY: A Harmonious Blend of Healing Touch & Scent

Aromatherapy reflexology is a holistic therapy that combines the ancient healing art of reflexology with the therapeutic use of essential oils. This integrative approach aims to enhance physical, emotional, and mental well-being by stimulating reflex points on the feet while using aromatic plant extracts to promote relaxation and healing.

Reflexology is based on the principle that specific points on the feet correspond to different organs and systems of the body. By applying gentle pressure to these points, practitioners aim to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, improve circulation, and relieve tension.

When aromatherapy is added to the treatment, essential oils—such as lavender, peppermint, or eucalyptus—applied to the skin through reflexology. Each oil has its own unique properties; for example, lavender is calming, while eucalyptus can invigorate and clear the mind. The scents are believed to influence the limbic system of the brain, which governs emotions and mood.

I offer 4 different aromatherapy reflexology wax blends:

"Balance" - Blended with essential oils of Geranium, Frankincense, Bergamot and Lavender.

Bergamot provides a pleasant, citrusy aroma. One of the most uplifting essential oils, it aids in lifting the spirits and relieving stress. The essential oils used in this blend have traditionally been used in aromatherapy to provide feelings of emotional balance.

"Lavender" - This single blend has the premium extraction of Lavender essential oil which is taken from the first 20 minutes of the distillation process of the Mailette Lavender plant.  Lavender is antiseptic and astringent; and has been appreciated for its deep healing and calming scent throughout the ages

"Zest" - This is a light, gentle, refreshing and uplifting citrus wax containing Lime and Mandarin essential oils.  Originally developed in conjunction with the Iris Cancer Charity, this Zest blend is formulated without Arnica so as to make them as mild as possible for those with compromised immune systems.  With its subtle and zesty scent, it is also suitable for pregnancy Reflexology as its essential oil content falls well below the latest regulatory requirements.

"Tea Tree and Mint" - This blend contains Spearmint and Peppermint essential oils which are cooling, cleansing and stimulating. Whilst Tea Tree oil balances the formula with its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Prior to your first treatment, I will conduct a health and lifestyle consultation. This is done to help establish what your main reason for seeking treatment is and if there are any reasons why the treatment might not be appropriate for you, for example first trimester pregnancy, lymphatic cancer, after organ transplant. All information recorded will be treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act and will remain confidential.

You get the opportunity to smell these waxes to which one you prefer or I can choose one based on the condition of your feet and from the consultation at the beginning of the session.

You will be asked to remove your shoes, socks and roll up your trousers to just below the knee.  If you have booked a luxury aroma-reflexology, a premium foot spa will be used to soak your feet.  The foot spa will have Dead Sea Salt and Colloidal Oatmeal with Jojoba oil, Lemon Verbena, Lavender and Peppermint essential oils to soothe tired feet along with bubbles and infrared lights to relieve inflammation.  If you have booked the classic aroma-reflexology, your feet will be cleansed at the start of the treatment with a hot wash mitt and dried with a warm towel which is very soothing.

If you have booked the luxury aroma-reflexology, you will be offered a Sensory Retreat Self-Heating Eye Mask either in balancing rose scent or relaxing lavender scent - your choice.  Not only that but you will also receive a small pot (20g) of your foot balm choice, they make a great foot moisturiser.

I will then start with a foot massage to help circulation. I will use a variety of reflexology techniques which will be adapted to suit your individual needs:

Walking Style - A traditional form of reflexology where the reflexes are pressed using one method of walking the thumb over the entire foot and

Massage - Massage techniques are used to stimulate the reflex points.

I will finish your treatment by cleansing your feet again and a soothing foot cream is massaged into your feet to hydrate them. Don't worry if you fall asleep, it means your body needs the rest and recuperation. I will gently touch your shoulder to wake you.

Aromatherapy reflexology offers a deeply soothing experience that nurtures both body and mind. Whether you're seeking relief from physical discomfort or simply looking for a moment of peace in a busy world, this holistic treatment may provide the balance and harmony you need.

Aromatherapy reflexology offers a wide range of physical, emotional, and psychological benefits. The synergy between essential oils and reflex point stimulation enhances the therapeutic effects of both practices.

1. Stress and Anxiety Reduction

The calming scents of essential oils such as frankincense or bergamot, paired with reflexology's soothing touch, can lower cortisol levels, reduce tension, and promote deep relaxation. Many clients report feeling calmer and more emotionally balanced after a session.

2. Improved Sleep Quality

By promoting relaxation and calming the nervous system, this therapy can help with sleep disturbances or insomnia. Oils like Lavender and Lemon Verbena are often used to encourage restful sleep and support a regular sleep cycle.

3. Boosted Circulation

Reflexology enhances blood flow, and when combined with invigorating oils like peppermint, it can further stimulate circulation, helping the body deliver oxygen and nutrients more effectively.

4. Pain Relief

This treatment may help alleviate chronic pain such as migraines, backaches, or joint stiffness. Reflex points connected to specific pain areas are targeted, and anti-inflammatory or analgesic oils (e.g. Tea Tree) are applied to assist in pain reduction.

5. Hormonal Balance

Aromatherapy reflexology can be particularly beneficial for hormonal issues, such as PMS or menopause symptoms. Oils like geranium support endocrine function and emotional balance.

6. Immune Support

Certain essential oils have natural antiviral and antibacterial properties. Combined with reflexology’s ability to stimulate lymphatic drainage, this can help strengthen the immune system.

7. Digestive Support

Stimulating reflex points linked to the digestive system, along with oils like peppermint can help ease bloating, constipation, and indigestion.
