Diabetic Foot Care

This treatment is specially designed for clients with diabetes using Flexitol which has been approved by the College of Podiatry and suitable for diabetics. A medical article in The Diabetic Foot Journal (2021) has been written on the foot care of diabetic patients and the benefits of using emollient and urea based creams. Flexitol products contain both emollient and urea which are used within the NHS.

This gentle and restorative treatment focuses on safety, comfort and hydration.  The gentle exfoliation helps prevent build up of hard skin which can lead to pressure points or cracks that can be more risky for diabetics. This treatment encourages healthy circulation which is often reduced in diabetic feet; and improves foot health in a safe, non-invasive way.  Tailored for you in every step.

This 45 minute treatment involves:

1. A detailed foot care assessment is carried out to tailor the treatment to your individual needs, with time taken to listen to your concerns.

2. Warm mitts are used to clean your feet and hot towels to dry your feet before your treatment.

3. Toenails will be gently filed to maintain comfort and reduce the risk of ingrown edges.

4. Flexitol revitalising foot scrub is a gentle exfoliation to help prevent build up of hard skin which can lead to pressure points or cracks that can be more risky for diabetics.  It is then removed with warm mitts and hot towels to dry your feet.

Depending if you have hard, thick skin on your feet or dry cracked skin will determine what treatment will be suitable next for you.

5. Flexitol rescue hard skin and callus balm is then applied to stubborn areas, like heels and balls of the feet. This professional diabetic-friendly formula is expertly formulated with blend of fruit based exfoliants and 22% Urea which softens and reduces hard skin and promotes healthy new skin growth.

OR

5. Flexitol Rescue Heel Balm is applied to your heels.  This professional diabetic-friendly formula is expertly formulated with 25% Urea and emollient to restore damaged skin, reduces risk of infection or discomfort; contributing to healthier, softer, and happier feet.

6. Finally, Flexitol Intensely Nourishing Foot Cream is applied to your feet; a rich, concentrated formula that delivers deep hydration to your feet.  Cotton booties are placed on your feet and a warm towel is then wrapped to encourage deeper absorption for softer, healthier skin. You will be offered a complimentary herbal drink and a booklet "how to look after your feet" from Diabetes UK.
